Did anybody else have problems with this race?

I managed to get a "back" bet and then the screen went to "market suspended" before the race was due to start and stayed that way and I was unable to trade out.

Betfair didn't unsuspend it, it's all over the Betfair Horse Racing forum.

Sorry,

What is this about?

I have never used the Betfair Forum.

Is it worth asking for a refund of my stake?

From what I've read on the forum, you can ask, but I'm not sure they will.

Here is a link to the forum http://forum.betfair.com (choose the horse racing forum on the left hand side)

Thanks Gary,

I have sent off an email, but it looks as though I probably will not get a refund.

It was 5.00 GPB, I know is not a large stake, but it seems unfair to lose it through no fault my own.

Reply received from Betfair:-

Dear Robin

Thank you for your e-mail.

Unfortunately this market was not turned in-play due to technical difficulties. As per our terms and conditions: "We are not liable for the failure of any equipment or software, wherever located or administered, or whether under our direct control or not, that may prevent the operation of our betting services, impede the placing of orders for bets or the matching of bets, or prevent you from being able to contact us"

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

Kind regards

Thanks Betfair.

I would have thought as that the stake was only 5.00 GPB, as goodwill gesture, they would have refunded the
money back - It wouldn't exactly have dented their profits.

How could you possibly expect Betfair to refund you ? How would they know that you wanted to trade out ? Everybody would be claiming that they wanted to back the winner if they did that !!

Well,

If they looked at my history, they would have seen I had been trading all afternoon, all week, all month.

That is why I expected a refund.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
