excel queries

Postby mcbloggs » Sat Jun 30, 2007 10:47 am

I have some questions wrt using excel. I'm sure the answers are
obvious but I can't find them. All relate to horse racing.

- If I'm logging prices over a period of time and a runner is withdrawn
during that time, how can I tell from the excel sheet that this has happened ?
I watched a couple the other day but couldn't see any difference between
the withdrawn horse and the remaining runners.

- Can I change the market selection from excel ? In other words select the
next market in the quick-pick list ?

- How can I determine if a bet has been settled ?

Great program, but would be happy to see a comprehensive user guide.
Thanks in advance. :)

Non runners will have (NR) to the right of the horses name.

You cannot (as yet) select markets from excel.

Unless you are closely monitoring your bets/exposure/results and current balance I would say it's difficult to know a market has been settled without looking on betfairs website in your profit & loss section.

In the beta version there is now an 'exposure' figure, so if this isn't zero then you have an unsettled market somewhere.

Thanks for your speedy reply.

Obviously I didn't look very hard on the excel sheet for the non-runner !

You say 'as yet' for market selection, do you know if it will come ?

I thought there might be some sort of query to the api with the bet reference
which might return its status. The exposure is ok if you're only betting sequential
bets, otherwise not much help.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
