US Horse Racing

Postby kiwi_kid » Wed Sep 26, 2007 9:34 pm

Why oh why do some of the US races go off well before the advertised start time? I have learnt that Philly generally starts up to 8 mins early, and it was an expensive lesson. I also learnt today - again to the cost of my balance that SuffD sometimes goes off early. Is this a consistent occurence at certain US tracks or is it random? I have noticed that if it still hasn't gone off with 5 mins to go, it will make it all the way to zero. Is this true or am I setting myself up for another loss?

It's a pain isn't it!

Not sure if there is a pattern. But I do know that if a race goes off 5 mins early then they will all go 5 mins early at that track for the rest of the evening. They often go off late as well, same rule applies - once one goes late, they all go late. I have come to the conclusion that Americans just can't tell the time. :D

My general rule is that I watch the off time at each track before trading on any of them. As you say it can work out expensive otherwise.

Thanks Pedromole. I had noticed that it is consistent for the rest of the day, but not sure if it was the same for the next race day at that track. Expensive yes! :( :(

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
