Wireless issue

Postby denning » Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:43 pm

Not sure if this is the right place to make this query, so apologies if it is not, but I wonder if anyone can help?

I am with Orange unlimited wireless broadband and have an Inventel wireless router/livebox. I prefer to leave my laptop switched on and connected all day. However, if I am idle for any length of time (say ten minutes or more) on my return it takes longer than it should to open a webpage. My guess is that my laptop is being disconnected if idle.

If this is correct, does anyone have any idea how I can adjust this? I have gone through "network and internet connections" in control panel and also my livebox homepage http://192.168.1.1/ but cannot see anything activated relating to idle time, but I might have missed it! So if anyone can suggest anything I will be grateful! Thanks.

This is quite a well known problem with Orange. A friend of mine used to get it all the time. What you could do is find a web page that is refreshes every minute or so and leave it on that. Perhaps having BA running with a 60 sec refresh on some future market would also work ?

Thanks for your replies, guys. I'll have a look at what you both suggest.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
