Starting price capture

Postby zoumzoum » Wed Mar 01, 2006 10:20 pm

Hi,

I am trying for 2 days and the result.........there is no result :(
I want to capture starting price for a horse, when the race goes in running. Is it difficult? Hmmm, it is for me.
Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Thanks

If it's only one horse try using the Log individual price option on export to excel rather than log current prices. You should see a dip in the price when the market gets unsuspended at the off as all the 1.01's are usually quickest off the mark.

Otherwise I guess you'd need some VB logging the last prices until the market gets suspended at the off

I've just had a quick mess about with this and although it might not be the prettiest it works (which is the same for most of my stuff :wink: )

If youre not familiar with vba you right click on the sheet tab at the bottom of the worksheet then choose view code. When the vba editor window pops up paste this into the empty space on the right of the window. I've put it in a quote in the hope that it will be easier to read.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

If Target.Columns.Count <> 13 Then Exit Sub
Application.EnableEvents = False
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
rw = Target.Rows.Count
If Cells(5, 2) = "In Play" Then Exit Sub
If WorksheetFunction.Sum(Range("F5:F" & rw)) = 0 Then Exit Sub
Range(Cells(rw + 1, 1), Cells(rw + 100, 13)).ClearContents
Range(Target.Address).Copy Destination:=Cells(rw + 3, 1)
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
Application.EnableEvents = True

End Sub

As long as the race is not in play and there are odds available on at least one runner (recently I've noticed the odds dissappear before the suspended sign appears) all the info will be copied underneath where BA pastes leaving 2 blank lines inbetween.

I've also had it clear everything below the original data before it copies in case you've changed races and the number of runners are different, so if you use any of that space for anything else let me know and I'll change the code if need be.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
