Only get 2-3 prices per second

Postby cooldad » Wed Jun 18, 2008 2:46 pm

I´ve configured the Default refresh rate to 0,1 seconds. But I only receive 2-3 price updates per second:

For instance, in the first 10 seconds of a race, I only received 15 prices, which is only 1.5 per second.

I have a very fast internet connection, 2300 kBytes/sec.

I am applying an in-race strategy, so it is important that I receive the prices as quickly as possible. I only need the Back Odds 1, can I disable the other prices, would that make it faster? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? Thank you.

Reboot your PC and router.

Check the Performance Options under the Options menu and make sure 'automatically adjust' is ticked.

Might be worth checking to see if the throttle limit is checked also as I think it's ticked by default and mine seems to revert back to default settings after installing new versions sometimes

Yes, ´Automatically adjust´ is ticked, the throttle limit was set to 10 requests per second. Is this the appropriate setting? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

You can safely set the throttle limit to 20. When set to 10 you are effectively throttling it to 0.2 seconds when viewing 1 market. I assume you are only viewing one market at a time. I suspect the problem lies with your ISP. There have been several topics on the Betfair forums about this, the problem is not specific to Betting Assistant so there is nothing I can change in the program to help you. You may find the problem resolves itself within a few days.

Also the problem is specific to Betfair so please don't take the fact that you don't have problems with other sites as an indication that it is Betting Assistant.

OK, I understand. I´ve increased the throttle limit to 20. At least now I know that Betting Assistant settings are OK. :)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
