Postby chindanai » Mon Dec 01, 2008 4:40 pm

Hi, Im new to bettrading and I have just downloaded the 'Betdaq Assistant'. However I am not sure how all the function works, is there a video which shows me how it work or an instruction somewhere? Thanx in advance.

If I study the other tutorial videos, will I be able to learn the functions? Is the 'lay all' the same as the 'hedge' function in the other programs. If I have any question about the program, can I ask them here?

Yes you can ask here. The lay all function is not a hedge function, it just lays every selection for the same stake and odds.

So is there a hedge funtion for this program? Umm do you know when the instruction manual will be coming out? Im also abit confuse on the following after watching a couple of betting video, Im sorry about the wording, might be a bit confusing;

Say you have a balance of 50 pounds, and you want to place stakes at 10 pounds. Say if the odd is 5.0 (back), and 5.2 (lay). If I lay first, at this odd I would require a lay risk of 42 pounds. Now I wondering if this money is deducted straight away (leaving me a balance or 8 pounds) which means I cannot back the whole 10 pounds? Does the system work like this, or is it because I also want to back 10 pounds, (giving me a potential profit of 40) the balance deducted from my account would only be 2 pounds? Thanx for the answer

I really think you should familiarise yourself with Betdaq before using an application like Betdaq assistant. Your questions are more concerned with how the Betting Exchange works rather than how Betdaq Assistant works.

The user guide will be available in the next few days. The program does not contain anything called a hedge feature. Can you explain exactly what you expect from such a feature?

Yes, if you lay £10 at 5.2 your available to bet balance would be £8 and yes you could back £10 on the same selection because your liability would be £2. If you are confused by this concept I urge you to just use the Betdaq website until you are familiar with the back and lay concept. Betdaq Assistant is not aimed at complete beginners to betting exchanges.

Thank you for your reply. Ill try to explain what a hedge feature is. Once you trade on a certain horse, you will only make a winning if the horse wins (after you have back and lay). Let say you will make 40 pounds if that horse wins the race. The hedge feature (if I understand it correctly) is a feature where you lay that horse again, so instead of making 40 pounds if that horse wins, you'll make something like 5 pounds no matter which horse wins (is you money is spread across the market). I can across this often in 'Bettrader' but their program can only be use with Betfair. I hope my explanation is clear.
Once the user instruction is aviable, could you please post a link to it. Thank you

Yes, it does contain this feature. It is known as level profit in Betdaq Assistant. It will be explained in the help file.

Sorry if I keep asking stupid questions, but is there a video to show how the program work? And is there good video one for trading as well (showing actual trading/betting)? Thank you so much

There will be some videos produced in the near future but they will only show how to use the program. We do not intend to show actual trading techniques.

It is not our aim to show users how to make money, we are not traders ourselves, we are only software developers and we have always avoided making claims that you will make money with our software. I don't believe any software provider can claim their software is guaranteed to make profits. The software is only a tool to make trading easier.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
