setting stakes based on betting bank size

Postby jonn » Sun Aug 30, 2009 5:35 pm

I have a selection of tipsters i follow and some of them use suggested stakes ranging from £1 - £500.

I would like to this suggested stake to represent a percentage of my overall bank size and then bet that figure.

e.g if £100 stake = 1% of overall bank size, £500 = 5%.

To do this would i have the suggested stake go into a nominated cell, then have a calculation done on this cell referencing the current bank size to gain the percentage, then place the stake in the staking sheet cell?

I would also like it to keep track of win/loss amount and update the bank.

Hope that makes sense

john

If I am understanding correctly

assuming cell A15 contains the suggested stake and cell C15 contained the Bank then in cell E15 put

Code: Select all
=(A15/100)%*C15

Hi again Duncan,

My experience of Excel is very limited and basically i am trying to automated what i am currently doing manually.

The way i saw it i could direct the suggest stake to a cell that would have an action on it that would compare it to another cell (which is the bank size) and then put the relevant percentage in the stake cell (b2 on the sample?).

Assuming your cell numbers are just examples i think that is correct.

Basically the £1 - £500 suggested stake is representational of a percentage of the bank, just like a points system.

So if was £500 (max) it would represent 5% of the total bank.

If the total bank was £1000 the bet would be £50.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for your help

Stake Amount = (A1/500)*0,05*C15

A1 Cell = 1 - £500 suggested stake
C15 Cell = Total Bank

Hope it helps,

Thanks for your replies.

Just to clarify it is:

(a) stake ÷ 100 = (b) required %,
then bank size ÷ 100 x (b) required % = stake to use

Pretty sure this was suggested, apologies if so.

Thats the equation but where do i put it?

Do i just designate a cell that is out of action to import the suggest stake into?

then have another cell for the overall bank to compare to?

then the result going into stake cell A1?

Finally, how do automatically update the bank cell with the winnings or loses of each bet so that it is ready for the next one? Ideally i would like it to have its own banl rather that the betfair bank as i make other bets.

Thanks in advance for any help

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
