Only bets below the betfair minimum are triggered

Postby milfor » Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:12 am

i am quite fascinated by the features of BA, but i seem to do something wrong:

bets below the betfair minimum (4 euro) are triggered by excel and matched on betfair
bets above the betfair minimum produce ERROR in the column "Bet ref" and don't even appear in BA and betfair

i have enough money on my account and i tried already some advice in this forum like clearing the cache
and using www.betfair.com as well as www2.betfair.com

the market i used for testing was soccer: italy-australia

i would appreciate any advice,
thank you

i tested it again today:

1) i open the BA program
2) i login
3) i choose a horse race market
4) i open excel (clean sheet)
5) i choose "log current prices" from the menu and take the option "enabled triggered betting"
6) i change to excel and write 2.78 in the odds column, 5 in the stake column and BACK in the trigger column
7) i see ERROR in the bet ref column and no bet appears in BA or betfair

the strange thing is: if i do exactly the same with stake 1 instead of 5, it works properly

do i miss something out in steps 1) to 7) or what could be the problem?

i found out something even stranger:

if i use only integer values for odd and stake,
then both can be as high or as low as i want,
no error at all

for instance: if it take 3 instead of 2.78 in the
above example, it works. at 3.1 it doesn't work
again

Are you in the UK?

I seem to remember problems like this in the past have been caused by differences in decimal seperators. For example, is Excel using a comma instead of a dot, or if Excel is using a dot, is Betfair expecting a comma?

Of course I could be way off the mark as well.

thanks that you try to help me

i am living in austria and we have "," here as decimal seperator
betfair tries to be nice to us foreigners and displays some
informations in german and also some numbers with ","
but not consequently, some numbers have "." too

i already switched in excel between "," and "." and i changed the
betfair language from german to english (north america) so that
all "," changed to "." in betfair

but all this didn't help. i think the problem isn't with betfair because
the bets don't even come from excel to BA. i think the problem lies
between excel and BA

mitch, your posting made me ask myself:
if excel, BA and betfair all are set to "." as decimal seperator, what could make the problems?

answer: windows
in the system control i found a place where you can switch to "." as decimal seperator for
numbers and currencies. since then it works finally

:D

thanks a lot for the inspiration, mitch

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
