Question

Postby mak » Mon May 31, 2010 12:31 pm

Gary (or someone who knows),
I have a bot which refresh everyday at morning the quick pick list, but some days there is no activity at all (the list is blank), so the particular bot won't do anything.

Is this Bot "consuming" a lot of memory, or computers cpu? Is it ok, just to be open and running 24/7?

I have done a lot of work to make sure it does not consume a lot of resources. It won't be the reason why the list is blank. I noticed recently that some markets can be missing in the data received from Betfair so I suspect this is the issue. This happens randomly. I will try to address this problem in the next few releases.

I thought you had encountered the problem I described. The markets actually being absent is a different thing. In theory you shouldn't have any problems leaving it running for two weeks. I've designed it to allow this, however if you do find it causes problems then let me know.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
