Betfair Server

Postby Mitch » Mon Aug 28, 2006 3:40 pm

Is the Betfair server on the preferences page still used, or is a different address used now it's connecting to the API?

The reason I ask is that it seems very slow this afternoon. I appreciate it might be due to people going mad after the long downtime or even problems of their own making due to the changes, but I just wondered if it was worth altering the server address in prefs.
Using a 1 sec refresh I probably get 1 sec 50% of the time, avg 2 secs for 40%, and it has been as bad as 4 or 5 secs for up to a dozen refreshes at a time.

Thanks.

The server address is not being used. I will be removing it in the next release. I also will be making performance improvements as it's making more requests than it needs to on each refresh.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
