some basic questions

Postby mojanadej » Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:14 am

Hello all,
I want to ask some basic question because I am unable to find answers:
1. is it posible to use testing mode? I cannot find this option :(
2. I want to use excel trading. Is it posible to send directly low stakes (under BF limit) or you need to update stake? How I can do this?
Thanks for your answers!

Sorry, this is not available. We do not have any plans to include this option in the future.

You don't need to do anything different, it will make the necessary transactions to place the bet below minimum. Just be aware that you cannot lay at 1.01 or back at 1000 if these odds are already offered.

Thanks for quick answer. I am surprised about no testing mode. Is there any significant reason for this decision?
Regarding to the second question I am satisfied that software is working with these prices automatically :)

I think it can lead to misleading results, particularly in an in play market where you can never be sure if you will be matched due to the delay imposed by Befair. If you simulate the bet being matched it will have to assume you get matched every time and that's just not realistic.

It think it's better to test your strategy with small amounts.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
