Excel issue with new 66x25 version

Postby scarlett3 » Tue Nov 09, 2010 9:14 pm

I have different in-running football markets open in separate tabs and, in each tab, I click on Excel > Log Current Prices and open a new Excel file. So, for the first tab, I will have bot1.xls running; for the second tab, I will have bot2.xls running; and so on.

With today's new version of BA I can open the Excel file bot1.xls in the first tab as previously, but when I go to the second tab, click on Excel > Log Current Prices and then click on 'Browse' and select bot2.xls, the selection for 'workbook name' remains as bot1.xls. I am unable to run a separate bot in my second in-running market, and so on for other markets.

Any suggestions?

Are both workbooks in the same folder? They are required to be in the same folder in this version. This is due to a change that was made to allow it to recognise two or more instances of Excel that are already running. It could not do this before so believe it or not it is supposed to be an improvement.

All bot excel files are in the /Program Files/Betting Assistant folder.

Can you follow the advice here http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5532

I'm afraid you will need to send me the log file before I can tell what the problem is, but if you don't want to do this then you can just install the previous version.

Thanks Gary.

I'll restart BA in time for 9:30 matches and send the diagnostic txt file when I re-try this.

Many thanks for the log file. It revealed the problem. The new code which searches for instances of Excel examines the Window title and was being confused by the presence of "[Compatibility Mode]" which appears when using a an older format of Excel file with a newer version of Excel.

I have fixed this problem in version 1.1.0.66x26 which should auto update next time you open the program. Please confirm this solves the problem for you.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
