Help with Stop Loss please

Postby methodman » Mon Nov 15, 2010 6:47 pm

I am placing a bet with a tick offset and want to put a stop loss in place.

For example if I use a BACK-T10 trigger and the price starts to go the wrong way when it gets to the price of the matched back bet + 50% I would want to place the stop loss bet using a price of the matched bet + 75%.

The reasoning for specifying both when the SL is actioned and the max price at which it may be actioned is to allow for a fast moving market.

I am unclear from the manual what to SLnP percentage is a percentage of.

Can this be done using the SL trigger modifiers or do I need to cancel the unmatched offset bet and resubmit a new bet?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
John

I'm afraid there isn't an option to place the stop loss bet at +75%. You can have it trigger when the odds go up 50%, but it will place the lay bet at the current best back odds plus 1 tick.

eg. BACK-T10-SL50P, back bet matched at 3.0
The stop loss will trigger if the best back odds go up to 4 or more, ie. ((3.0 - 1) x 1.50) + 1 If the odds go to 4.2 for example then the lay bet will be placed at 4.3
Don't forget though that if you don't request a level loss then if the odds exceed double, ie. 5.0 in this example then the stop loss will not trigger at all unless they come back down.

Thanks Gary - I'll try a bit more testing.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
