Check price place bet at specified time

Postby Wenona » Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:32 am

Hi all

Just downloaded a trial of the software, but the Help section just stays blank when I click on it.

I want software that will allow me to place a bet on UK Greyhounds when I'm asleep (I'm in Australia).

I want to be able to specify a selection, a time and a bet and a price minimum, then have the software check the selections price at the specified time and place the bet if the odds are above or equal to my requirements.

Is this possible, and if so, could someone direct me to plain instructions on how I can set up a series of these bets.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the link to the user guide. Once you've successfully viewed it through your web browser it should then be possible to view it within Betting Assistant unless your OS is 64bit.

You have two options: conditional betting or Excel triggered betting if your requirements are more sophisticated. They are both described in the user guide.

Thankyou for the quick reply and link.

I did a trial run last night, setting up a couple of bets in a single race. I set them at around 11pm to be placed at 5am and went to bed. I'm sure they were set up ok and were active. I left the screens open.

I got up and checked them around 6.30AM and the screens and application were closed. The bets that I expected to have been placed hadn't been placed.

Are there any timing out issues I need to deal with when setting bets for overnight?

I'm using Firefox as my browser. The computer auto restarting after a Windows auto update is possible I suppose.

Any ideas or experiences that might shed some light?

Your web browser is irrelevant, Betting Assistant does not use your web browser to place bets.

It cannot place bets if it is not running therefore the bets were probably not placed due to the application closing. It doesn't just close itself so it must have been closed by some external event like a a reboot. Turn off Windows automatic updates because this can cause a reboot.

Also you didn't say which method you used to trigger the bets at 5am? If you used conditional betting then yes there are issues. If you entered 05:00:00 in the trigger after column then this condition is going to be satisfied immediately because 11:00:00 is after 05:00:00 so the bets could be triggered before 5am. In this case conditional betting is not suitable and you need to use Excel triggered betting.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
