how to get this strategy in Excel?

Postby brecki » Fri Feb 11, 2011 4:18 pm

Hi guys,

I have a problem and hope you can help me.

I do the following in soccer matches :

First Laying the draw when the odds reach a specific point, then backing a correct score. So far so good, I programmed that and it works well as long as the market is not SUSPENDED during the bets triggering.

Now if the match is suspended during the process there can appear six critical situations:

1) Lay completly matched ; Back partitionally matched ; a goal has been scored
2) Lay completly matched ; Back partitionally matched ; no goal has been scored
3) Lay completly matched ; Back not matched ; a goal has been scored
4) Lay completly matched ; Back not matched ; no goal has been scored
5) Lay partitionally matched ; Back not triggered yet ; a goal has been scored
6) Lay partitionally matched ; Back not triggered yet ; no goal has been scored

What I want to do is:

Case1) : green up both markets
Case2) : do nothing and get the outstanding rest of the back bet matched
Case3) : green the lay bet
Case4) : do nothing and wait for the back bet to get matched
Case5) : green lay bet
Case6) : wait for the rest of the lay bet to get matched, then trigger the back bet

To do this by if-then formulars or inserting these formulars in a macro I need answers to these Questions:

How can Excel or BA recognize wheather a goal has been scored or not?

How can I make Excel recognizing wheather the unmatched part of a bet has been cancelled due to a goal or is still alive?

Is there a special trigger command to automatically green up a market ?

Thank you for any help you can give me to answer these three questions !!!

Sounds like you need a developer to help you. See http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

There isn't a green up trigger, but there is an example worksheet which calculates the green up stakes from the MyBets worksheet. See http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/v ... php?t=4659

BA cannot recognise when a goal has been scored.

Hi Brecki,

My experience with football scores is that it's possible to identify most scenarios but nothing is 100%.

Eg
1. Midway through a game the correct score is identified by the lowest back odds. However, this doesn't work early in the game.
2. You could scrape some score websites eg [http://www.livescore.betradar.com/?alias=betfair&language=en]
However, I've had plenty of occasions over the last few years where the scores are just plain wrong. Also there can be a delay depending on site. Also I often find http://www.flashscores.co.uk/ registers the correct score before the Betfair goes back in play more often than not.

The rest of your questions I think have already been answered by Gary

Regarding "excel recognising goal scored" I would firstly would suggest to use WebQuery for live score tracking. Just choose a site you like most with auto-refresh and make e web querry to it. Works perfect for me. Some delay in soccer is not a big issue.

Then make excel to track changes in the score in ABS values and make VBA to copy-paste value each time excel makes a bet and simple IF function will trigger another bet when scores equation changes.

This is just a general principle how to do it.

Hi,

thank you for your answers and suggestions.

Unfortunately I am not firm with WebQuery and what are ABS values?

I would like to know more about it and learn how that works. But that´s not simple as I never heard about it earlier. Is it possible to get a working example from you? That would help me most. Then I can try to change the code so it does the things I want. That would be great !

I´m looking forward to hear from you.

Thanks again

Brecki,

WebQuery is a very simple and handy Excel feature, I'm sure you could handle it yourself. Please check in Excel menu Data/Import External Data/New Web Query.

In case you need more detailed help please PM me and we will not bother all the folks with technicalities.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
