Invalid Persistence

Postby davez » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:09 am

On race 3 at Warwick Farm(Australian racing) today I received an invalid_persistence error message when trying to place a BACK-SP bet.

The help file states this error occurs when using the -SP modifier on a market that will not be turning in play, however I had placed BACK-SP bets at this meeting prior on earlier races with out any problems & the error as yet has not occurred again.

Any ideas what could have caused this error?

& of course the horse did win, but luckily I happened to be watching this race & placed the bet manually.

Sorry, I don't know why you got that error if the market was definitely offering SP. It's too late now, but if it happens again check the market information by clicking on the blue "i" above the grid in BA. It should mention whether it offers SP.

no worries, I am guessing that it was a Betfair glitch of some sort as it was definitely a meeting that offered SP

On a separate SP matter , I've noticed that BA is ignoring the default SP actions at one of the newer RSA courses that now allow SP, even though the market is being recognised as an SP market in the betting options box.

Can't remember the market off hand but I'll make a note of it next time it crops up.

Just tried on Scottsville and it's ignoring the default SP and just placing a normal bet. The RSA courses have only recently been added for BSP so not sure what criteria BA is using to determine the BSP markets when it comes to bet placement

Yes, that's a bug. I'll fix it. It's probably because it's not turning in play. Up until now SP markets have also been markets that are turned in play.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
