Trigger modifiers

Postby Yorkie » Fri Feb 18, 2011 2:18 pm

Hi Guys

Can this be done with just an excel trigger modifier string?

Lay a selection at 2 minutes to the off with a level profit tick offset of 2 ticks, so far easy using "Lay-TL2" fired at 2 mins to the off, but what i want is that at 10 seconds before the off if the tick offset hasn't been matched i want to cancel it and level up at current odds, either green or red.

Is this possible with a string of current modifiers or will i need to have the unmatched bet cancelled and then have excel work out the stake for the 10 seconds level up and place a new bet to level up?

Hope that makes sense

Cheers

I'm afraid there isn't a trigger that can do that. You would need to cancel it and work out the new stake as you suggest.

Isn't that a bit of an ommision Gary?

At present without any real knowledge of excel i could use BA to place a lay bet, lets say £100@5 and to place a level profit offset back bet for me. If the back bet isn't matched then i'm left with a £400 liabilty going into the event. Something i never intended. As using excel is supposed to be about automation surely a way of getting out is as important as a way of getting in.

Yes, on a personal level i can work out how to do it thru excel formulas etc but i would think there are users who probably couldn't.

It's definitely something to think about including. There is a stop loss feature which will get you out if the price moves too far in the wrong direction though, but this isn't time based, it's price based.

Yes there is always the stop loss to fall back on but if the odds don't hit the stop loss the original bet still stands on it's own.

Whether it was tied to a certain number of seconds from the original bet being placed or tied to the countdown clock, which i think would be better, would be down to how easy it is for you to implement and thanks for considering doing it.

Yes I too, would appreciate the ability to cancel all outstanding bets just before the off, then red/green up to level the market across all runners.

I suppose it could be done using the CANCEL trigger in conjunction with your "Greenup" sheet Gary? Although this would require modifying my existing sheets, or can you easily combine/merge sheets which have a different layout and VB codes and reference cells associated with them?

Hi boycee :)

See: http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3360

Perhaps a little nudge on this previous thread may add a little more weight to the idea?
This gathered a reasonable amount of support in the past - hope Gary does not mind me resurrecting it?

All the best - Michael

Yes, it can be done with CANCEL and the green up spreadsheet. Probably easier to change the VB to fit your spreadsheet.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
