what version of excel are you using?

Some people have reported problems with XL2003
(Not sure if the API version has fixed those problems)

Make sure you are not just using "works" - it won't work with this. Excel is required

I have the same Excel version like Gilraen had before his update and the same WinXP version also. Maybe it has something to do with the german versions of this programs? I have read that there should be an error log file but cannot find it anywhere. I am using api version 0.98m.
Is it possible to try the java version? Maybe with the older versions the problem doesn't occur. I searched the webpage but cannot find download links to the older versions :(

As i understood it, the original version was screenscraping from betfair
The current version uses the betfair API
And a future version will be java.

I may be wrong, but i'm not sure if java is currently being used, but was intended for the future.

I do remember that someone had started a thread to see if anyone else was unable to use XL2003 with the BA.
As i recall, there was no error log produced, but they were unable to get the data through to excel.

I'm not sure, but it may be a language conflict in the excel versions. Hopefully something fixable, but as i don't know how the trader is sending the data to excel, can't really help. :(

May be an idea to do a poll asking what version of excel everyone uses and anyone with difficulty using excel can post their comments about what version and language they use. There must be a fix for this somewhere.

Anyone know how to set up a poll on this forum?

Correct me if I'm wrong, been a while since I used Excel 2003, but there's an option in Tools/Options called something like Ignore External Applications (I think its on the General tab but don't quote me).

Let me know if it helps.

Hmmm... yes the setting is there, but I've just set it, and my feed to Excel still works

OK, worth a try I suppose :(

It must be language related, I've used Excel 2000, 2003 & 2007 with Betting Trader/Assistant without trouble.

just installed Excel 97 parallel to my Excel 2003 installation and now I get data displayed in Excel. The fields at the top like total matched are displayed correctly but the horses I don't get displayed at all. I only see the name of the first horse. but all other columsfor this and the other horses keep blank.
Any ideas?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
