Keep at front of queue using UPDATE trigger example

Postby andak fedal » Fri Jul 29, 2011 12:51 am

Firstly, thanks to Gary for providng this example excel sheet linked below. I think it will be a good basis to attempt my first bot, having only ever used Betting Assistant before!

I just have a couple of questions and would really appreciate if anyone could help me out.

1) Can anyone explain further about the pitfall mentioned by Gary in the post above. Does he mean that potentially you may never get matched if there's only £1 at the front of the queue for each price and if you'd waited a little you'd probably have been matched rather than trying to offer better again and again? How many of these updates would result in data request charges?

2) If I wanted to just keep betting and producing new bets rather than updating one until matched (that's what this does right?), how would I submit these multiple bets and also how would I cancel them all at a certain price?

3) Finally, I want to calculate various things based on the odds of each runner but how can I tell a particular cell how many runners there will be as this differs for each race? Would I just tell the formula to look at 50+ rows and ignore any that are null/empty or is there an easier way?

Thanks

I have just discoverd the CANCEL-ALL trigger so that part of question 2 can be ignored!

I think if my trigger criteria keeps getting fulfilled I can just sepcify LAY/BACK triggers instead of UPDATE, but how can I limt the number of bets on each selection?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
