How does stop loss work

Postby billstickers » Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:07 am

Do you think you could explain how all the various parameters of stop loss work please?

I have been using stop loss, this is my trigger "BACK-PL2-SL75P-L-SLC1-IPC", What I was expecting was that if stop loss was fired it would put a Lay bet on with the same stake as the back bet, so as to avois any loss, however that is not happening, the Lay bet is considerably smaller than the back bet, meaning that I still get a loss.

Hi,

Your example trigger includes -L which means Level Loss, i.e. if the Stop Loss is fired then Betting Assistant will calculate the required stake so as to give an equal loss across all selections.

Please note that the Level Loss part is mandatory if you want to use the Chase option as you have done.

If you didn't use the Chase option then based on your example you could use BACK-PL2-SL75P-IPC
Then if the Stop Loss fires it will use the same stake as your back bet.

Regards,
Mark

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
