Tick offset

Postby Bookmatch » Sun May 27, 2012 3:21 pm

If I have tick offset enabled with a delay of 30 seconds applied, and I get matched on my initial bet, is there a way of cancelling the tick offset bet before it is applied?

Hi,

The only way to cancel the offset bet before it is submitted would be to move to another market.
Switching markets cancels Tick Offset.
Otherwise just wait for it to be submitted and then cancel the unmatched bet.

Regards,
Mark

With the same situation as I mentioned earlier. If the market suspends and then re-opens for photo/stewards enquiry, the tick offset bet is taken regardless of changing markets after suspension.

The bet must have already been placed before you changed market. It's impossible for it to be placed afterwards.

It may have been activated before race suspension but definitely not matched. I quickly switch markets to cancel the tick offset bet before the market reopens for photo/inquiry but then when I return to the market in question the tick offset bet has been matched, reducing my profit. I have a 4 second delay too.. if that makes a difference?

Are you saying the tick offset bet had already been placed, but not matched or that the original bet had not yet been matched before you switched markets? If the offset bet had already been placed, but not matched then switching markets will not cancel it. Unfortunately Betfair won't let you cancel it while the market is suspended so the only option is to stay on the market and try to cancel it as soon as it re-opens.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
