Conditional Betting and Stop Loss

Postby duncstew » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:03 pm

Hi,
First post, and new to the software - it looks great!
A question around Conditional betting.
If I wanted to place a conditional back bet on a horse when it reaches certain odds (say 1.5) and if that triggers have a stop loss at higher odds (say 2) - is that possible?
Can I place a conditional stop loss like that, or can I place a second conditional lay bet to reach the same outcome? My concern is that the second conditional lay bet could get triggered first, if the horse's odds started at, say, 3?
I am looking to do this through the main screen rather than excel, as I haven't got my head round that yet.
Thanks in advance,
Dunc

I'm afraid the stop loss feature is not available with conditional betting. As you say you could put two conditional bets in, but as you say you risk the lay being matched first or some of the back bet and all of the lay.

Thanks for the response.
So, apart from doing this manually in running, is there no way of ensuring that my first conditional back bet takes priority? So the second conditional lay bet (acting essentially as a stop loss) would only get triggered if the first conditional bet was triggered?

Lastly, if this possible to do in excel?

Thanks

You could use the trigger BACK-SLF2 which will place a stop loss bet if the odds go up to 2 or above. If you want it to spread the loss then use BACK-SLF2-L. Please be aware if you don't use level loss and the odds go straight past 2 to odds more than double the matched odds of the back bet then the stop loss bet will not be placed to prevent a high liability. If the odds come back down again it can still be triggered.

You want this bet to be conditional so you can use it as a formula in the trigger cell. eg. =if(F5<=1.5,"BACK-SLF2","")

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
