Greyhound form and ratings

Postby Ian1506 » Sun Sep 22, 2013 11:48 am

Because BA does not show recent form or ratings for Aus greyhounds, does anyone know of a method where the race currently on sheet one can be automatically downloaded from Tattsbet and put onto Sheet 4.

For example if BA is showing Sale Greyhounds Race 11 on Sheet One, this page (https://tatts.com/racing/2013/9/22/VG/11) is to be automatically downloaded to Sheet 4.

I can mine this manually but it is very time consuming.
Any help gratefully accepted.
Cheers Ian

I'm assuming the last two entries in the url, /VG/11, refer to the course and race number. It shouldn't be too hard to parse out those details from BA so you can set up some vba to pull down the racecard on each market refresh. I used to have something similar before Gary set up his sportinglife spreadsheet that does the same just gets live shows from the bookies for horseracing.

Have a search of the forum as there's plenty of examples showing how to grab an external site using vba and on parsing a string to get the race/course you'd need.

Hi Captain. Yes the VG relates to the meeting name and 11 is the race number.
I think I can parse out the name and race number from BA but the next bit about getting the race card is a mystery to me.
I've looked on the forum, searching for "External Sites", "Parsing" etc but nothing seems to be jumping out at me.
Am I searching using the wrong terminology?
Cheers Ian

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
