Trigger betting question

Postby 51m017 » Mon Jan 08, 2007 9:56 pm

This should be simple to answer......

Im using trigger betting to lay 2 minutes b4 the off with

=IF(AND(TEXT(NOW(),"hh:mm:ss")>"13:18:00",H7<=6),"LAY","")

I pick my selections the night b4 and want to lay if the odds meet my selected criteria.

In the odds cell i'm linking to the Lay 1 cell so i should get matched. But if i don't will my bet carry on and be posted in play??

Cheers in advance

Simon

I'm afraid not mate.

As with the betfair interface - if you put a lay bet on 2 min before the off, after the race starts all bets not accepted by someone else get cancelled. So your bet may end up canceled.

If it's a market with good liquidity so the LAY1, LAY2, LAY3 odds are only a tick or 2 apart then you could just link to the LAY2 or even LAY3 columns to make sure you get matched. If the odds might be more than a few ticks apart you could use the LAY1 odds in a vlookup or index/match formula to request a price 1 or 2 ticks on the 'safe-side' so you have more chance of being matched.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
