Hard drive help

Postby tjhunt » Thu Jul 16, 2015 4:00 pm

laptop HD clicking away so looking into replacing it and seems an ssd is the way to go. What memory is best for gruss as that is all I use the laptop for? Also not sure if just buying a new laptop would be easier...any help appreciated.

I replaced the drives on my laptop and desktop ages ago with a cheap Sandisk and a Crucial one. Both were 256MB which was plenty for me as you can always convert the old drive to a usb one with a cheap caddy off ebay so you still have the storage available. I bought one for around a £5 off ebay and it works fine and contains stuff like my mp3's etc.

If you only use it for Gruss maybe you'll even get away with a 128GB one, just check how much space you'd used on the disk already as it's probably very little if it's only Gruss on there.

I found even the cheap ones boosted my speed or at least loading times which is where most slow downs occur, brought both back to ife as I do have large databases running on mine. Loads of choice out there but make sure you don't overpay for something that your laptop can't handle anyway a lot of the newer ssd's are capable of a faster transfer rate than you're existing sata connection maybe able to handle. Like I say even a cheaone made a noticable difference to my PC and laptop, certainly worth trying as a cheap way to speed up your OS rather than getting a new PC.

I think 256MB is too low for memory nowadays. If your budget permits, maybe you could go as high as 6GB, that way, you can multitask pretty easily.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
