back then lay inplay

Postby slochin » Sun Nov 06, 2016 11:56 am

Hello,
I am hoping someone may be able to help me with my project please. It is not a new idea-place a back bet shortly before the off and then place a lay bet in play to profit when it shortens.
I have set up my Excel sheet so far to place the back bets for my selections at 1 min before the off.
This is my trigger:
=IF(AND(AC5=”Y”,COUNT(T5:T61)=0,S5<>"",$AA$1="Yes"),"BACK","")
In $AA$1
=IF(AND(E2="Not In Play",F2<>"Suspended",
OR(D2=TIMEVALUE("00:01:00"),ISTEXT(D2))),"Yes","No")
For some reason I get an #Name error for my trigger.
Now I am not sure how to tackle the lay side when he race goes inplay. If you are watching the race you can then use your judgement as to when to take profit. I am thinking that the best for automation might be to place lay bet so that If successful I win say 10% of my stake.
I am not sure if a separate sheet would be required or perhaps it could be combined with the back bet?
Maybe there is a better way to capitalise when laying a bet that has shortened? Heaven forbid that my selection does not shorten inplay,is it possible to set up a stop loss as well?

hi slochin,i guess you have tested your selections for the % drop in price..am not technical ie spread sheets but i know a stop loss in running can be quite volatile,,ie your selection is say 10.0 pre race ,, you have a stop loss say at 15.0 .the horse gets behind , the price goes double, hits your stop loss, you take a red ,only for your selection to pick up and hit the required % you were looking for ..are you doing front runners , or your own selections . be interesting to watch how it goes

Hello @trader444,
Thanks for response. At the moment I am trying to set up the formulas for the lay side of the bet,and work out why my back bet is showing a #name error. So still a long way off.I see what you mean about stop loss.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
