gc thanks but that doesn't alter the stake it alters the odds to the default. I have however noticed the white boxes on the right of the market I think a <b>DOH</b> is in order. The program is good but isn't intelligent enough to work out an idiot is using it.

Speaking of the dutching option - are you still looking into the minimum stakes thingy that was discussed a bit back???

Ie. doing the dutch calculation so that if something comes in under the minimum stake the bet is increased to the minimum stake. I think thats how it works in trading mode already???

Cheers

If you change the bets in the dutch then it is no longer a dutch. Changing that 50p lay at 500 to lay £2 at 500 is unlikely to leave you with a green screen.

What would be the point of that?

Does the excel feature record the prices for just one selection in a race, or for all of them? I can only get it to record one selection at a time. When I select <i>log current prices</i>, it just updates the prices in excel. And the <i>Back Odds 3</i> column appears as a time format, and not with the correct odds. Am I doing something wrong?

TamsLoup. It will only record one selection in the current version. You can click on new page and select the same market in another tab. This will allow you to monitor more than one selection. You must select a separate worksheet for each selection. The program copies the data to Excel without doing any formatting so it sounds like the odds 3 column was previously formatted as a time. Just change the formatting of the column to a number.

Thanks Layit. Do you plan to allow all selections to be logged on a single sheet?

Also, I was wondering if there is a big cost in using your program in terms of data download. I assume what you are doing is grabbing the html behind the page(s), and parsing it for the details you display. Is it a big download? I'm wondering if my broadband provider will tell me to increase my download limit if I were to use your program a lot.

TamsLoup. I will add the ability for you to select all or some of the prices to track soon. The program receives the same amount of data as Internet Explorer. For example each refresh for 14:10 at Redcar downloads 1432 bytes so 1 mb is equivalent to 732 refreshes (1 mb every 12 minutes at 1 second refresh intervals). Hope I got the maths right.

Green Scream - i don't use the dutching feature for lays and what you say makes sense in that case but on the backing side it's frustrating to have to change the stake manually and mess up the calculations because a horse is at a bigger price then the others and needs less then a 2 pound bet.

Bringing it up to the minimum stake and keeping the calculation automatic would be much easier.

Keep up the good work layit, anytime you get a chance is fine

Just a very small issue i seem to have been having a problem with.My "stake" at top right of page seems unable to be changed,whether i override it or not,also in the preferences box that also seems to have no affect.

Should i be rebooting when i change stake or am i simply misssing the bloody obvious?

Thanks in advance from a gratefull punter.

This has probably been put up before, but thought i'd share a macro i wrote.

Was interested to see the excel feature that would log current prices, but i wanted to see how this progressed throughout a race.

Sheet 1 - is for displaying the current prices as usual
Rename sheet 2 - to "DATA CAPTURE"

After the race, rename the sheet to whatever you want and call another sheet "DATA CAPTURE" to create the next data list.

Enter this macro into a module (ALT F11 - ALT I - ALT M, then paste)

Sub odds()
Application.OnTime Now() + TimeValue("00:00:01"), "odds"
lastrow = Sheets("DATA CAPTURE").Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row + 1
ActiveWorkbook.ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Copy Destination:=Sheets("DATA CAPTURE").Range("A" & lastrow)
End Sub

Basically this will copy the data on sheet 1 every second and copy it to the DATA CAPTURE sheet so that you can see the price movement after you start the macro. To stop it just select the Data Capture sheet and that should break the code. Or keep your finger on the Esc key.

Hope this is of interest to someone.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
