lippy. Go away.

I put a fix in place to silently ignore any dialogs that pop like (eg. Javscript errors). A side effect is that the 'security alert' dialog that appears when you logon is also ignored. This is why it takes ages to log in. There is nothing sinister going on here, however much you want to believe it. I will be fixing this problem in the next release. The program will only ignore dialogs if you are not on the homepage.

The new release will also include multiple tabs so that you can have more than one market open at the same time. It will be out this morning.

Layit, would it be possible to get a look at some of the code behind this application ? Even if it was just a sub set of code it would be very useful to me.

Version 1.1 sdk , but it tells you that you have to download .net framework redistributable package version 1.1 first.
If you download these you will be OK

The easiest way to install the .net framework is to visit Windows Update. Remember to go back to WU after installation as you will then be offered the latest service pack. Note that the SDK is not required. only the redistributable framework. Use WU and avoid any confusion.

The program appears to be using a web browser control. If that is the case (I hope it isnt) please be aware that although the control should fully take on the characteristics of internet explorer it does not. Cookies are one problem hence not 'remembering' your accounts details and settings also javascript errors will occur. There is also an issue of security which is known to MS. This is trying to be helpful btw not snide. As LayIt has already said his motives for supplying this free program is to learn vb.net.

Lex. Yes it does use the WebBrowser control. I'd be interested to know what security risk this poses. Please advise.

Basically the control is a wrapper for ie 4.0 which is out of date. Better that you use IE 6.0 if poss.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
