This must be related to placing the bets on a different program thread. This was to solve the issue where multiple bets would get queued up. I'm sure Layit could fix this.

Speed is vital with triggered betting.

Thanks for the replies. I am working on a fix which will consolidate Excel triggered bets into one request instead of requesting them individually which should show an improvement in triggered betting.

Layit I have a question rregarding how the bets are submitted.

Once the trigger is set, the bet gets submitted, but in the time it takes for the bet ref to return, the refresh has occurred and my trigger is still in place. In the previous version, I understand the application "froze" until the bet was placed and the bet ref returned.

If the bets are now submitted in a different thread, how does the program know not to submit a new bet for every refresh, if the trigger is still in place and the betref still blank?

Thanks

mikeyboymike. Immediately before the bet is requested the bet ref cell is populated with "PENDING". When the bet ref cell is not blank it is impossible for the program to request another bet so there is no possibility of the bet being requested more than once. The bet ref is updated on every refresh so it will be populated as soon as a reference is returned from Betfair. The average odds matched are for that bet reference only so there is no possibility of it trying to give an average odds for a mix of backs and lays as was suggested in an earlier post.

I have now released version 0.98i. All triggered bets are consolidated into one request, this will be noticeable if you lay the field for instance.

Layit, when the trigger cell is populated does the program submit the bet immediately or wait until the next refresh ? ie. suppose you set the refesh to 5 secs would the program wait 5 secs before submitting the bet ?

Thanks for a great bit of kit.

Ianp. The bet is placed immediately, your refresh rate only affects how quickly the reference and average odds are updated.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
