Green up

Postby GaryRussell » Mon Mar 22, 2010 9:25 am

This spreadsheet calculates the stake and bet type (back or lay) required to green up/red up an individual selection (not taking into account bets made on other selections).

It uses the MyBets worksheet so you need to select "Log current bets" when setting up the Excel link.

The bet type (BACK or LAY) is output to column Y, the stake required to column Z and the odds that the stake was calculated against in column AA.

The code that performs the calculation is in the worksheet change event of the MyBets worksheet.

Here is a modified version of the green up example which will calculate the green up stakes based on the opposite odds plus or minus one tick. For example if the green up bet is a back bet and the best lay odds are 3.5 it will calculate the stake based on odds of 3.45. If the green up bet is a lay bet and the best back odds are 2.0 then it will calculate the stake based on odds of 2.02.

Also note in this example that the calculation occurs in the Sheet1 module at the same time that the odds are updated.

I have added two extra columns to GreenUp_OpposingOdds.xls

The two extra columns display the total matched back stakes and lay stakes for each selection.

I have updated the green up example to do the calculation when the prices are updated on the main worksheet so that the prices are in sync. Previously it would be calculated using the odds from the previous refresh as MyBets is updated before the prices.

I have also added a "Greened up P&L" column to show what the future P&L will be if the green up bets are placed.

Here is an example for two markets linked to separate worksheets: Market1 and Market2.

To add further markets copy the code from Market1 in the code editor and edit the MyBets worksheet name in the line that reads as follows.
Code: Select all
Set myBetsRange = Worksheets("Market1_MyBets").Cells

Here is the green up spreadsheet modified to green up automatically 30 seconds before the scheduled start time of the event. It uses the COM function cancelAllBets() to cancel all unmatched bets before inserting "Y" in cell T2. The formula in the trigger column will use the green up bet type as the trigger when T2 = "Y".
Please note that you will need to enable the COM server in Betting Assistant's Preferences to use this example.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
