I'm not saying I'm going to to this any time soon, but what do you think of this idea?

A feature to record the prices over a period of time and then play them back at the same rate they were recorded and allow you to place virtual bets. This would allow you to try out different trading strategies without risking a penny.

layit,

an option to save the bets matched history would be wonderful to a CSV file, if you are going the api route.

I think the multi threading support in VB.Net is the business. I used Delphi a lot, but found it easier in .Net

Gary, just had a look at your program and it looks very good!

Would it be possible to get some sort of board prices (from bookmakers) then this could be used in a trigger, say if the Betfair price is less than the board price then place a lay order?

the recording of prices also sounds great, would you consider being able to output it as a text file so some of us could import it into our databases so we could test things further?

kc. Sorry, the ability to find arbs is not something I will give away

When I move over to the API I will add the ability to log the prices to a text file.

Layit - by "saving quick picks as a group" I meant something like this ... say you open the correct score market for each prem match and add them as a quick picks. What would be nice is if you could save these as, say, "prem-scores' and then later be able to populate the quick pick box by opening/loading "prem-scores" rather than having to go to each market individually again.

It looks like a great programme, but I haven't tried it yet. But I wonder: If you click on a price and the price suddenly disappears, is it a risk that you get filled at a completely unacceptable price?

Plars. The program reacts instantly to the mouse click. You will request whatever the price is at the exact moment you click the mouse. How fast the request goes through to Betfair is another story.

OK, but the problem is that I'm afraid that when my brain see a price and my finger clicks on it 0.2 secs afterward, the price has changed.. This could result in laarge losses. A suggestion to this is to be able to select a individual "delay". Ex: I could choose to set the "delay" at 0.21 secs. Then I would place the price wich was in that price-box 0.21 secs ago.

Others agree?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
