It's always scary when they do maintenance! However, perhaps going forwards they will communicate better according to this latest statement on the developers program site...........

Yes, they had this post on their service forum too.

They're getting to the point where they're starting to realise the implications of not giving information.

However, they should also realise that the patience of their users can only be tried a certain amount and once a tipping point is reached there'll be no return.

I agree. If there ever become a viable alternative I think there will be a stampede!

Betdaq couldn't afford to pay for all this great publicity they're getting...

After a dodgy start the site held up extremely well and from my angle was refreshing as well as it ever has. Let's hope I'm not tempting fate here :)

I think it is very positive they give such an extensive explanation! Restores my confidence since it is due to major platform upgrade.

Betfair Customer Services 17 Feb 10:50
Betfair would like to apologise for the unscheduled downtime that we experienced today. This was caused by a technical issue and brought the site down between 10:28 and 10:33

Affected markets to follow.

The site was down for 5 minutes, did you get this error message during this time?

It seems the API is running again, but the Cancel-command is not working.
I go to sleep. Let's hope these problems are completely solved when the platform upgrade is finished!

Good night,

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
