New 66x25 version.

Postby DFK » Tue Nov 09, 2010 5:37 pm

Hi Gary
Since the automatic update today of the new version my response times have been relatively very slow. I am now regularly getting times of up to 800 ms. This is happening on two computers. I was using the old version (66w4 ?) this morning and it seemed fine. Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried to download the old version, but the new one appears instead.

Regards DFK.

After reading the 'excel problems - urgent' post I have downloaded the old version 66w4, tried submitting a few bets and I have found it to be MUCH quicker submitting bets, the response times are far quicker.

Hi,

I have been testing the new version today and have not seen the problem you describe.

Bet submission response time for me is generally between 100 and 200ms

Regards,
Mark

Very very strange. I cannot see any reason for this at all. It may have been a coincidence that you were getting slow response times at the time. Unless I get reports from other users I am not convinced there is a problem with response times in this version.

I've just compared the official release 1.1.0.65z1 (which the vast majority of users are using) with version 1.1.0.66x25 and can see no difference in the response times. The code that actually sends the API request and records the response time are no different between these versions. The same applies to version 1.1.0.66w4.

If i may add, just download 66x25 haven't really test it yet, but i think it is less memory consuming which is great..Haven't enable any charts yet cause i don't use them a lot & i think there is trick

If I may also (that is for Gary) would it be difficult to add an option if we want BA to update now or later? Today for example i had 3 BA already opened and working, and i need one more instance.. BA tried to update & almost crashed.Had to close everything - update and reopen - rearrange bots etc...

Thanks

We are looking into adding this option.

Further to my post, I have noticed that whilst using the new version
the response times which appear in the black bar at the bottom of the page bare virtually no resemblance to the figures listed in the transaction log, although I have just had a 1266m/s response time in the transaction log.

I am fixing this. Nothing is delaying the placement of bets, but the way the times are recorded are inconsistent. I will release an update later and then you can check if you still think there is a delay.

I can confirm that i don't get any delays, and that this version is consuming less memory resources :D

* probably if the chart facility is disabled

Thank's Gary. After checking the average response times for both versions, there doesn't seem to be much difference. I was obviously getting a false indication of speed if the reponse times in the black bar were out. Also with the new version, the bet ref number in My Bets when Display Keep Bets options is on seems to update after the bet placement, also giving a feeling of slugishness. Any chance of having the submit button in My Bets moved back up to underneath the last bet placed?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
