Calculated Odds in Excel

Postby Castillo » Wed Mar 29, 2006 1:10 am

Hi All

If your odds in Column O were generated by a formula and it happens to work out at say 2.75 and a BACK bet was made at these odds, would the bet be accepted by Betfair as it should be 2.74 or 2.76. I would let my spreadsheet loose to test it, but it still needs a little fine tuning.
Let one loose the other day and it went crazy..BACK BACK & more BACK's lucky it was on the winner.
Before I let a spreadsheet loose, I now tie up most of my funds in a market say in a weeks time, LAY at 1.01 knowing it won't get matched, just remember to cancel it before the OFF though

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere on the forum that BA will work out the closest proper odds to the figure you supply in Column 0.

In my routines I have a sheet with a list of all the correct odds and use a VLOOKUP with FALSE as the last argument which will pick the nearest real odds below the figure you feed into it.

You are correct. There is no need to adjust your odds as the program will do it for you.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
