BA Freezing Up

Postby gizzard » Sat Feb 04, 2012 3:09 pm

I've had 3 occasions over the last 10 days or so where BA simply freezes up. There's no market change going on, bets have been placed with offsets/stop losses triggered and it's all happening in the background on a remote connection.

When I go in and take a look the clock showing has stopped and the only way to kill BA is using Task Manager. The logs show nothing unusual.

I haven't seen this problem before but, as I say, 3 (very costly) occasions in the last few days is too much.

What actions can I take or what data can I send when this happens?

Hi,

If it happens again, before closing BA down, send BA_diagnostic.txt and BA_Error_log.txt to admin@gruss-software.co.uk
These files can be found in "C:\Temp\Betting Assistant Logs"

Regards,
Mark

Is it a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows? There is a Microsoft debugging tool that can be installed which will create a dump file showing exactly where it is struck. It's the only way to diagnose this type of problem with any certainty.

I'll assume you have 32 bit Windows for now. The following instructions are for 32 bit Windows.

1) Install Microsoft Debugging Tools from http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symb ... .1.404.msi

2) Extract the file named “ba_runaway.bat” from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... unaway.zip to“c:\temp” folder

3) Next time the program is hung open the “c:\temp” folder and double click on ba_runaway.bat. You will see output in a black window. Each time you see “press any key to continue” in the black window wait 10 seconds and press a key, you will need to do this 3 times until the window disappears.

4) Send the files named BA_Runaway_1.txt, BA_Runaway_2.txt and BA_Runaway_3.txt to admin@gruss-software.co.uk

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
