Wanting to avoid accidental in-play betting

Postby Lazypunter » Fri Oct 12, 2012 8:06 am

Hello folks, new to here and organizing to use Betting Assistant to place a few bets, pre-loaded well ahead of post time, with certain criteria met, but a little worried I may not be 100% safe against having bets go in-play. The type of trigger formula I intend to use, is as follows:

=IF(AND(F5>10,F5<20,$S$1<105,$T$1<60,$E$2="Not In Play"),"BACK","")

cell S1 will contain the market percentage, T1 the seconds remaining to post time. Question is, am I safe from having a bet stay on the board if it is triggered on the cusp of going in-play ? I want to avoid that, obviously.

Welcome Lazypunter :)

Seems to me that it's possible if F5 goes between 10 and 20 and the timer
is now below 0 then a bet could be trigger at the last second?
So how about just adding one extra condition into the AND formula to
prevent the timer going below say 10 seconds before official event start?

=IF(AND(F5>10,F5<20,$S$1<105,$T$1>10,$T$1<60,$E$2="Not In Play"),"BACK","")

Just an idea that should eliminate all but the most unusual - early event start.

Hope it helps - Michael

Thanks for the answer 2020, I am in Australia betting on Australian races and the liquidity is such that betting has to be delayed to close to post time, and if there is an unexpected delay, the % could be pretty awful still at advertised starting time, if the players know the race is late, hence I want to be able to bet up till the jump, whenever it occurs. If I elect to cut off at 10 secs to advertised start, the 105% ceiling won't be met when races are delayed, a lot of the time.

I should add I am planning to have the stake =1000/back odds, so if somehow the bet trips over into inplay, I could face a wipe-out at silly odds, or maybe I'm just being paranoid !

Ok - I see your point better now

Maybe someone with more experience at this kind of thing may suggest something
or put your mind at rest regarding the possibility of getting caught out?

Ttfn - Michael

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
