Which version of BA required

Postby doris_day » Thu Dec 13, 2012 6:34 pm

I've been out of action for a couple of months as I moved to a new house that needed quite a bit of work. It still needs a lot of work but I'm taking a couple of weeks away from building and decorating and need some advice regarding a new line of thought I've been developing.

Not that any of that is relevant to my question :)

I want to gain access to as much of the DOM (depth of market) as I can in Excel and believe this example spreadsheet does that (http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Excel/g ... _Async.xls).

Does this require the com version of BA or the ordinary one ? Well it grabs 10 prices either side but obviously if there's another way of doing it I'd be pleased to know.

Thanks and may you all have a great Christmas (even with Betfair in the poor shape it is)

I believe that the versions are the same.
That spreadsheet uses the COM interface so you have to enable it.
If you need more market dept it can be easily altered or if you want to make some calculations based on the market dept you can easily do it inside the loop in the VBA sub.

OK. Thanks. I've done that and have enabled com interface and have all the bits done as far as I can see (from the user guide) but I get an error 459 in Excel when I try to get the prices (though it does show the normal 3 prices either side) 'Object or class does not support the set of events' and when I click on Debug I get sent to the line 'Set ba = New BettingAssistantCom.ComClass' which is highlighted.
I havent changed the xls file in any way so any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks

The async version requires the Beta version. See http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=9 for download.

Well, that's what I thought. The next time I booted it up it didn't work and I get the same error as before directing me to the VBA line ' Set ba = New BettingAssistantCom.ComClass'.

I've tried un and re-installing to no avail.

Is there no other way I can get greater DOM without using the com interface which I really know bugger all about ?

Strange. Next time I booted it up it worked fine. All I did was to change the BettingAssistantCom priority in the References window. Could that have made a difference ?

Today it wouldnt work again until I noticed that the reference priority had sunk to a lower level and when I lifted it to a higher level it worked fine. So it looks as though the reference priority really is important. Interesting.....

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
