Market Replay Excel

Postby okslaba » Sun Aug 09, 2026 8:39 am

Is there a way to run Market Replay with an Excel bot? I have a working Excel bot, but when I run it in Market Replay, it doesn’t place any bets even though the conditions are met. I can see the market data in the Excel workbook, so the connection is working, but it still doesn’t place any bets.

Did you enable triggered betting?

Yes, I did enable Triggered Betting. I’ve attached the settings I’m using for reference.

This feature definitely works.

1) Did you click start on the timeline so the prices start updating in Excel? Can you see the prices updating in Excel?

2) If you enter a simple BACK trigger manually does it work?

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I clicked Start on the timeline, and I can see the prices updating in Excel.

I also manually placed a BACK bet on the market, and it was accepted successfully.

I then let the bot run on a real market, and it worked correctly. However, after I deleted the Quick Pick list and added some historical markets instead, the bot stopped placing bets.

So it seems that the issue only occurs when using the historical markets in Market Replay.

You established that the BACK trigger works in historical markets so it appears to be working as intended. Can you give me an example of the exact trigger including odds and stake, specific market and exact historical time where it is not triggering? If it does not work then it should be easy to replicate.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
