Have run your program successfully at home and it is just what I have been looking for to fit in with the system I use.

I have loaded it onto another comp.at another place and it wont accept my user name or password.

I have meiculously put them in several times but to no avail.

Any suggestions.

Great Program

A grateful user.

Just want to add my thanks for a great program. Have followed this thread since the beginning but not been able to actually use the program until this evening. Does all I need it to and a lot more, much better than using the Betfair interface.

Nice one Lay it, group class software.

Just because a piece of software is free doesn't mean it has to be open source. There are many free programs out there, including lots from Microsoft. Try asking Bill Gates for the source code to Outlook Express or Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player or any free program and see what answer you get

At the end of the day, the decision to go open source is down to Layit but he certainly has no obligation to do so. I think what he has done so far is far above the call of duty.

layit, and i'm only playing devils advocate here, and will happilly not ask if you want me to stop.

however,if you went open source people could see if there was anything more to it,as it is there could be anything in it,and i'm not suggesting there is,but people are just opening their pc's and accounts to you......theoretically you could empty there account in 30 seconds.

As I said i'm not suggesting that you are, just thats very feesable with free downloads where the source is not open.

Please don't upset yourself by worrying about the safety of my account. However, here's a novel thought for you, if you are worried about such issues when/if you use this programme then...... don't use it! Problem solved, everybody happy.

its a simple question,i'm not disparaging his efforts,or questioning his motives.

just refering on a question that an IT consultant said he would ask if he was downloading it.

At the end of the day, I don't think there has to be any justification about it being open source. Everyone who uses Betfair must be perfectly happy to use a program that already logs in and has access to all your passwords, and not just for Betfair. No one thinks twice about using a browser (be it IE, Mozilla or whatever) yet at the end of the day it is a piece of software.

I also fail to see any logic about it being free so it must be open source. From what I can make out Harvey, if he charged you for this software you would trust him, but because he doesn't charge the trust is questioned.

It's like already stated, if you don't trust the software, don't use it. There are a few products out there now that can be bought. And if you really are paranoid, there are actually de-compilers out there for VB .NET.

Harvey.. I don't have a problem, that's what I've just told you. I have no problem with this piece of software but you seem to be dubious. Don't use it. Sorted. Failing that at least have the nous to go back over the entire thread. This phobic approach has been discussed ad infinitum.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
