LAYFIELD - ERROR CODE

Postby Snowman54 » Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:42 pm

Hi Gary,

Having solved the Excel 2010 "click to run" problem I am now working on new programmes, one of which involves "Laying the Field" in horse racing. having set up my parameters I keep getting the following error notice when a "LAYFIELD" bet is triggered, but the error code does not appear in your error code list. Any ideas???

"INVALID SIZE"

In addition as the "LAYFIELD" is going in play should the suffix -IP be used or by setting all bets in BA Preferences to go "In Play" will the bets remain in play or be cancelled if -IP not used.

Could you please confirm that when I get past this problem will the "cancel the remaining when matched" work on BA (ie box ticked) if the instruction to place the bet is given from excel, or is there a suffix that has to be included in the excel code

The stake and price for this programme will be determined by the parameters of excel so what effect do the stake and price in the "betting option manager" have or do you have to pre set them in the manager.

Kindest Regards

Invalid size means there is something wrong with the stake in column S. Are you sure you have put correct odds and stake in columns R and S before putting LAYFIELD in column Q?

In addition as the "LAYFIELD" is going in play should the suffix -IP be used or by setting all bets in BA Preferences to go "In Play" will the bets remain in play or be cancelled if -IP not used.

The betting options in BA are for manual betting they do not affect Excel. You need to use -IP if you want the bets to remain in play.

No it will not. It's only for manual betting, ie. bets placed with the Lay Field button. There is no suffix available for this option. To achieve this in Excel you will need to use the LAY trigger on all horses and use column W to determine if any are matched and then use the CANCEL trigger on the remaining selections.

The stake and price for this programme will be determined by the parameters of excel so what effect do the stake and price in the "betting option manager" have or do you have to pre set them in the manager.

They have no affect on Excel at all. Excel stake and odds are specified in columns R and S of the spreadsheet, nowhere else.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your prompt reply, the problem was the odds which I still have set at the "LAY" odds instead of the FIXED odds at which I wanted the fieds to be layed.

The other info has been extremely useful and enabled me to finish the programme a lot quicker than by trial and error.

I will be testing the parameters over the week ends racing to very small stakes before committing a set bank and staking plan to the system

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
