BA and Excel

Postby allaboutprofit » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:47 pm

Is there a way i can monitor in BA and Excel an events prices starting from all earliest prices matched upto the event off time and then trigger a bet on a certain selection? For example:

6 runner horse race.

Monitor all runners and lets say horse number 3 was matched at 4.0's say 4 hours before the off time but in the meantime it has drifted to 6.0's and is now back within 10% above or below the earlierst price it was matched at which was 4.0's,this has to be within a minute of the off time, then once this happens a bet is triggered automatically.

Is there a way in BA and Excel that this can be done, or can someone profide a trigger/stroke code example. I would like that eventually i can leave it to go through every race in a day starting with the first racr and do the above itself as each race finishes it then starts on the next race.

Thanks and i hope i have made it sound simple :)

You can't get Betting Assistant to start monitoring the race as soon as the market is created, it cannot scan for new markets. You would need to link all the races say first thing in the morning to Betting Assistant in separate tab pages and start monitoring from then. What you're asking for is quite complicated and cannot be put together in a matter of minutes, that's why nobody has answered yet. Are you willing to pay someone?

Hi Gary, thanks for the reply

I may have over complicated what i want but im not to sure. What i want is BA to catch/read the earliest/lowest price matched on each runner, say in a six horse race but do this for every race in a day, and the win only market.

Can BA look at each horses total bets placed placed since the market opened then look at the earliest/lowest price it was matched at, then as close to the off as possible fire a bet on that selection if that selection is within 10% of its earliest/lowest price matched.

Once this is done it moves onto the next race and does the same. I appreciate this may be hard thing to do, i have in my head what i want it to do but putting it into word/code is not what im good at.

I am willing to pay, how much would something like this cost.

Thanks for your help

Hi Gary

It wouldnt need to scan for new markets, lets say i open BA and login an hour before racingas normal, i load all markets, then what ive asked in previous posts starts by looking at the first race, then once that race is finished it moves onto the next.

Thanks and sorry if i sound confusing.

Sorry, I understand now what you need. It could be simple to do, but unfortunately Betting Assistant is lacking the facility to transfer this information to Excel. I can add a function to transfer this information and make it possible with a simple spreadsheet. I would be making the new function available to all and therefore would not expect paying for this, also the spreadsheet would be very simple once this feature is in place and I would not expect paying for that. You will have to allow me a few days to implement this.

All the above is provided you only want to use the lowest price matched. If you need to capture the earliest price matched then it would not be possible as it would require constant monitoring from the minute the market opens, the information is not available after the fact in an API call.

Cheers Gary

That would be great, i think for the idea i have the lowest price matched would be fine.

Excellent piece of software to and great advice.

OK. I'll add a function to the COM interface for querying the market traded volume. Don't worry if the COM interface sounds complicated, I will provide an example.

Hi Gary

I have just been looking through the conditional bets fucntions. Could what ive asked above be implemented into that? As it is close to what im asing except it doesnt have "lay at lowest price matched" essentiaslly in the conditional bets options you could have:

Check price: Lowest Matched Price
IF: <=
Price1 : 10.00
Price 2: N/A
Bet Type: Back/Lay
Bet Price: Lowest Matched Price

So it checks for lowest price matched and if odds are lower than 10.00 then trigger back or lay if odds are lowest price matched.

Or is what you have in mind better :)

Thanks

I thought you wanted it to place a bet at the current odds if the current odds are within 10% of the lowest price matched. Conditional bets wouldn't cover that.

Hi Gary

Yes that is what i want, i was just going through some of the functions etc in the software as ive only just subscribed and the conditional bets looked simialar to what i want but as you say it wont do it, i will leave it down to what you have in mind.

Thanks for helping

I have added the new function.

1) Download the update using the link below.
http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... t_Beta.msi

2) Configure Excel to use the COM interface.
Locate the program Excel.exe where your Microsoft Office program files are installed. A file named Excel.exe.config needs to be created in the same folder if it does not already exist. Edit the file with Notepad and insert the following lines.

Code: Select all
<configuration>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>
<supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/>
</startup>
</configuration>

3) In the Betting Assistant preferences select the COM server tab and tick enabled.

4) Download the sample spreadsheet using the link below.
http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Excel_S ... xample.xls

5) When you link Betting Assistant to this spreadsheet make sure 'Clear Bet refs on auto select market' is ticked.

6) Select "Auto select markets|At specific time before off" from the menu and enter 1 minute

The example spreadsheet simply backs any selection where the odds are within 10% of the lowest matched odds 30 seconds before the scheduled off.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
