Place bets on a selection of horses

Postby GaryRussell » Wed Jun 03, 2009 10:11 am

This sample allows you to enter a list of horses and lets you specifiy odds ranges to back or lay them at.

See https://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Excel/ ... etting.htm for instructions.

Here is a modified version of Place_Bets.xls which allows you to have multiple entries for the same selection.

The first entry on the selections sheet that meets the criteria is triggered. It then logs the bet ref in column J on the selections sheet. This entry can then no longer be triggered so the next selection that meets the criteria will then be triggered. This is repeated until no further selections meet the criteria.

There is a small amount of VBA code which checks if a bet has been triggered, populates the ref on the selections sheet and then blanks column T in the market sheet allowing another bet to be triggered.

IMPORTANT: Please be careful not to delete the formulas in columns B,G,H and I on the selections sheet when adding and removing entries.
You must ensure that the bet refs in column J are blank after entering new selections so that they can be triggered.

I have uploaded the previous spreadsheet again. It had a small issue. If the odds were outside the range to be triggered it would still attempt to trigger the bet at zero odds. This results in an INVALID_PRICE error. No real harm done as the bet was not meant to be placed and was not placed.

I have uploaded the previous sheet again. If the same selection appears more than once and the first criteria is never met then the next criteria for the same selection is never evaluated.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
