INVALID_PERSISTENCE

Postby MICHSTEP » Sun May 11, 2008 5:37 pm

About 5 hours before a football match was due to start I submitted two bets, both of which were matched. At kick off time I submitted another bet LAY-IP via excel. The bet apparently was refused. On the BA interface it says "Error placing bet OK" On the excel sheet in the Bet ref cell it says "INVALID_PERSISTANCE". Can anybody explain this one, please?

Betfair only accept keep bets before a market goes in play so you cannot use -IP when the market is in play which is why you received an error message.

Gary I've had the same problems submitting bets into the markets with either SP or IP being set in my triggers. Could you recode BA so it'd change persistance to None if the marketprices delay was greater than 0

Gary, thanks for your reply.
Since I normally submit bets on events going in play shortly before the start, I presume a fix for my problem would be to check the contents of the "In Play" / "Not in Play" cell and code the trigger cell "LAY" or "LAY-IP" accordingly?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
