Only just noticed this thread and downloaded the program which is a great bit of kit. As a novice trader this should do wonders to my herewithto disastrous account. My compliments to you Layit for all the time and effort you have obviously put into this project and for of course making it available to everyone for free! All the best.

Hi Gary,

Really a great program! I appreciate your work.

I have one question:

I’m going to use your program for betting with some Formula 1 markets. I’m amazed by the possibilities your software offers to me, especially the triggered betting function! But I’m not sure if there isn’t a high risk of using triggered betting with the Formula 1 markets.

For example, during a racing weekend, sometimes betfair changes the order of drivers in the winner market. - This doesn’t happen at a special time (for example after the qualifying).

Let’s say the third driver in the market is Alonso and I told Excel to back him, when his price is higher than 4.6.

Now – after a change of order – the third driver will be Montoya with a price of 9.2.
Will Montoya accidentally be backed now? Or can your program identify the change of order automatically?

Sorry for my bad English as a non native speaker.

1. if there is nobody wanting to back an event and i click to try to lay i get an error...is there an east way to get the box up so i can just enter...
2. what is wom...weight of money!?!? what does that mean/how calculated?
3. it is good but ive got done a couple of times which cost quite a bit trying to cancel individual bets when there are quite a few on the pad at the bottom...(by clicking the red x's - is that right) cause it didnt work and prices got taken before i could do anything...since then if i wanted to cancel 1 ive just cancelled them all but clearly not ideal...sure it is me but just a quick q...
4. what is the dutch profit thing? trading mode and overide odsds??
5. and also...reverse bets by default and fill missing prices??

thought this was gonna be a 1-liner sorry for the qs but really good system

Norus .. the best way to do it is to have the driver's name and odds in another sheet and use VLOOKUP from the 'trigger' column. Also be careful if you are using this in running - if two runners qualify at almost the same time you can get the first bet duplicated .. this is presumably because of thetime delay and the Excel sheet doesn't have the bet details returned from the first bet when the second bet is triggered.

You are right, better to programme some protections in the spreadsheets by myself before ending in disaster...

My this is a long thread.

I have just downloaded the proggie and geting to grips with it. Some good stuff in it and for a freebie an excellent piece of work. Many thanks to LIYM.

I have not got to the excel side of things yet and I would be interested in the trigger betting. Can someone give me a run down of what I need to get started and what it can and can't do? Can't see any downloads on the site for the excel spreadsheets

Just discovered that you open excel then log the current prices from the program.

Can it say - deal with this scenario.

Price is at 2.5 to back. I want to set a trigger to back if price contracts to 2.4 and then automatically place a lay at 2.3. Can this be done using excel?

Yes, but you would probably need to write a VB macro to do it as you need to clear the Back bet details before triggering the Lay bet.

It could be quite easily done but the problem at the moment with the trigerred betting in excel is that there is no way of knowing whether a bet has been taken or not.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
