Excel Trigger Problem

Postby MICHSTEP » Thu Oct 30, 2008 8:59 pm

I am using Vista and Excel 2007. As I write the Excel macro has just placed an in-running bet - Trigger (Instruction = BACK), Odds and Stake cells have been populated as intended. The bet does not appear on the BA interface. Checking on with the Betfair Site, the bet has not been placed.

When I was using XP and Excel 2003 with exactly the same macro, everything worked OK. Would appreciate it if anybody could give advice on this problem

Did anything appear in the bet ref column in Excel?
Does Excel appear to be updating, is cell C2 updating?
Is the trigger definitely correct, ie. no spaces before or after causing it to be unrecognised?

Nothing appears in the bet ref cell. Cell C2 is updating with the time. The "BACK" instruction has no spaces before or after.

The macro has loaded another in-running market into a different location on the spread sheet. So Excel seems to be updating and functioning OK. Macro placed a bet into this new market - which was not recognised by Betfair.

Can you send me a copy of the worksheet after the trigger is populated to admin@gruss-software.co.uk? You can remove the macros if you don't want to reveal your system. There has to be something that BA doesn't like.

Have you tried entering a trigger manually in a new spreadsheet, does this still work?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
