Last price befor the off

Postby anama » Sun Dec 07, 2008 11:04 am

How can we put in our excel trigger the last price (odds) BEFORE THE OFF??
I ve made an nice trigger, that has made some nice profits till now. I lay some horses at the last price "just" before the off. Till now i have to do it manually. There are 2 problems:
1) i cant know when the market goes exactly in play. I just watch the timer and when it goes negative i type the odds. As you know sometimes there is a delay for the event start and the prices keep on changing!!!
2)i have to be on the computer to do this. I want to make my trigger automate
There are 2 more questions about my trigger. I do not put them now because i have to solve this problem first
Thanks

Hi Anama, i'm no excel expert but I think you have 2 options. Of course you can't tell when the event is about to start but you can tell when the scheduled off time is and when the event has just started.

1) You could tell your IF function to wait untill D2="00:00:00".
or
2)Tell your IF function to wait for E2="In Play", F2="" . Hopefully you'll catch the event just as it turns in play.

Hope this helps.

thx for the answer. I knew that i could do what you say but it is not what i want. I want the LAST odds before the market goes in play.
Yesterday i downloaded a trial version of a program (i dont know if it fair to mention it) which did exactly what i want. But it is expensive and i prefer Betting Assistant interface.
Thx again

You have to log the prices at every refresh and then use the last one when the race turns inplay. There are several theats and code discusing this.
Take a look here and also do a search:

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
