Maching odds in play?

Postby rugbygav » Tue Jan 06, 2009 1:33 pm

Is it possible to match horse bets in play on the lay side.

My propsed spreadsheet looks for the odds i want to match in play, then fires a bet in when any horse hits them.

Does betfair move too quickly for my requires odds to be matched?

Sometimes you will get matched and sometimes you won't. It depends how quickly the odds move. You might consider requesting to lay at a few ticks higher than the current odds to have a better chance of being matched, but it's up to you if want to risk being matched at the higher odds.

There is also the built-in BF delay before any bet will be taken. I haven't bet for so long that I've forgotten how long it is.

It depends on the market. BA displays the delay for the market if there is one.

On betfair do the prices rise/lower tick by tick or do they jump between prices ?

If you are talking about in-running on horses it can go from 10.0+ to 1.01 in the blink of an eye.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
