Tick Offset - Would a % feature improve BA

Postby Nutter Punter » Tue Dec 16, 2008 7:14 pm

At the moment if I use a 10 tick offset to lay 10.0 my back goes in at 15 which is fine. However if I go to lay 10 in running and get filled at 2 my back goes in at 2.2 which is a bit low.

So maybe a % tick offset would be better? at 50% my lay of 10 would be backed at 15. My lay of 2 would be backed at 3. This seems far more beneficial to me than a tick offset that we have.

Any thoughts?

I agree. It would be a good option to add as I generally prefer to trade-out (if I'm going to) at a percentage rather than a tick value.

Good suggestion, I think this would be a good addition to the offset function.

Great idea but only as an extra option not a replacement in my opinion.

Are the above decimal odds? A 50% increase on 2 should be 2.5 as 3 would be a 100% increase if you are talking decimal odds.

I have just found this new feature and I must say Gary you are a star as usual. I really do appreciate the effort you put into this for all of us.

Nice one :D

If i lay a horse for 100 at evs and want to back back 5/1 and have my tick offset to reflect this. Will it back the whole £100 at 5/1 or just a % in order to cover liability ?

thanks

It will back £100 giving you a profit on your selection and no liability on any other selection,

unless you click the "auto level" box in which case it will back with £40 giving you an equal profit on each selection of around £57 depending on commission.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
