List of Runners

Postby AndrewP » Sun Mar 08, 2009 7:02 pm

Hi All,

I need to put a list of all declared runners into an Excel lookup table the night before racing. In order to avoid differences in spelling, punctuation etc. affecting my lookup table I would like to get the names of runners from Betfair itself. Does anyone have any code for this or can anyone advise on the best way of going about it?

You can download a CSV file of tomorrow's decalared runners from the Sporting Life site from the bottom of this page ....

You just need to have a macro to edit out the suffixes. I've found the spelling is usually pretty much the same as Betfair's.

The file isn't mine , i downloaded it from here but don't remember from who.
In the quick pick list you have all today's races, you log the first race and wait.If a race is suspended you have to manually pick the next race.

Thank Ian, I'll check it .It may be simpler.

Thanks for these solutions guys.

I ended up with a neat little utility from the SmarterSIG.com forum which downloads all runners and current prices direct from Betfair and so avoids any variations in spelling and punctuation.

Here it is Roger. http://www.smartersig.com/home.php

This particular utility is not in the downloads area of the site but on the discussion group forum (hosted byYahoo). You have to subscribe (pay) to gain access to both the members areas of the site and the forum.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
